Sound Therapy

Sound therapy, or sound bath, is a meditative experience that uses resonant sounds and harmonics to intentionally promote relaxation, anxiety reduction, and meditative brain states for the well-being of the recipient. Instruments such as crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, gongs, and tuning forks are used to immerse the recipient in healing frequencies and sound waves at specific intervals. During sound therapy, you simply make yourself comfortable, usually lying down with your eyes closed, follow a few guided breathing exercises to begin, then receive the sounds.

Our bodies are approximately 70 percent water. Sound travels 4 times faster in water than in air. Quantum physics has shown us that everything in the universe is vibrating. Every cell, tissue, and organ, and chakra in our body vibrates at a specific frequency, which changes if out of balance or diseased.

All vibration produces soundwaves, even if our ears cannot hear them. Vibrational frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz), or cycles per second. Our bodies are influenced, and can attune to the frequencies around us. Soundwave vibrations moving through our cerebro-spinal fluid, connective tissue, and bones can stimulate fluidity, breaking apart both energetic and molecular blockages, and re-establishing homeostasis.

Sound therapy has been shown to activate our parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system, stimulate the vagus nerve, reduce the stress hormone cortisol, and increase neurochemicals such as oxytocin and endorphins.

Our brain waves are altered during a sound therapy session. A sound bath can put us into alpha and theta brainwave states, which are associated with meditation, daydreaming, and deep relaxation. Theta brainwave states have been shown to promote cellular regeneration, anxiety reduction and increased creativity. The benefits of sound therapy are profound.

Reiki

reiki energy healing

Reiki is an ancient Japansese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and promotion of healing. Reiki comes from two words- Rei “universal life,” and Ki “Energy.” A Reiki practitioner works with life force energy, or chi, channeling it into areas of the body where it is needed for emotional or physical healing, and removing energetic blockages which may impede the flow of energy.

Reiki energy, when received, always works for the highest and greatest good of the recipient. During a reiki session, the client lies on their back, fully clothed, while the practitioner administers a laying on hands technique, usually lasting for about an hour.

Ancient wisdom such as ayurveda, yoga, and Chinese medicine, recognises that a life force energy is what sustains us. Quantum physics has shown us that vibrating energy forms the substance of life in our universe. The human body, as well as its organs, cells, and energy centers, or chakras, all emit a measurable biomagnetic field. The electromagnetic field produced from a Reiki practitioner’s hands is also measurable. Understanding that energy is the underlying cause of our mental, emotional, and physical health helps us to see how imbalances or blockages in our energy field can lead to various issues. By working with this energy, Reiki healing can help restore harmony and balance.

Guided Meditation with Breathwork

yoga

Pranayama is control of the breath, which is control of our life force energy. When we learn to focus our mind and control our breath, we can regulate our autonomic nervous system. Downregulating the nervous system enables us to concentrate our attention on meditative practices to clear the mind, and feel the peace that naturally emerges when the mind is calm.  Pranayama breathwork and meditation are practices that you can take home with you and continue on your own. We will start with traditional yogic breath work followed by a guided meditation catered to you.

Tuning Fork Therapy and Binaural Beats

tuning fork therapy

The use of tuning fork frequencies for healing is an integration of science and energy healing. Tuning forks draw our awareness into a still point, and allow our autonomic nervous system to naturally shift to the new frequency, called entrainment. Using a range of tuning fork frequencies, we have the ability to target specific physical and emotional imbalances.

Tuning forks have the ability to shift our nervous system into parasympathetic mode, increase production of Nitric Oxide (NO), which plays a major role in our nervous, vascular, and immune system equilibrium, and signal the brain to shift into more relaxed and meditative states of awareness, such as Alpha and Theta brainwave states. We will explore a combination of techniques including Pythagorean harmonic intervals, on the body Osteophonic tuning, and binaural beats.
